The V8 Hemi is back!

The Daily Downforce

After a 13-year absence, and a lot of speculation this week, it was finally made official in Motor City: Dodge is coming back to NASCAR! This is in the form of the Dodge RAM in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. During today’s live announcement, RAM CEO Tim Kuninskis unveiled the return of the Dodge RAM to the product show floor of Dodge dealers across the country as well as a new NASCAR 1500 concept race truck that will hit the Daytona high-banks in February of next year.

This is so exciting! I’m thrilled to see Dodge back in NASCAR!

Starting with the truck series seems perfect. Just get started!

Welcome back V8 Hemi!

Engine Manufacturers

F1 has the following engine providers:

  • Ferrari
  • Mercedes
  • Honda
  • Renault

I know Ford is doing a deal with Red Bull Racing to build engines but I’m not familiar with the details.

It would be nice to see the only American F1 team — Haas F1 Team — run an American built engine. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, or Cadillac would be great candidates and I have no doubt could provide competitive power for Haas.

IndyCar has the following engine providers

  • Honda
  • Chevrolet

I’m surprised Ford and Toyota don’t have a presence here. A European manufacturer like Mercedes, Ferrari, or Renault would make for a wonderful addition to IndyCar.

NASCAR has the following engine providers

  • Ford
  • Chevrolet
  • Toyota

I would love to see the return of Dodge to the Cup Series and the Truck Series. They have a classic American muscle car in the Charger and Ram trucks are known for power and durability. They were there once, time for a return.

How about sneaking in a European manufacturer like Mercedes or Ferrari?

Why not add Honda to the mix? They already produce a V8 for boats. Why not NASCAR?
